| David Opko is the operations manager for Texada Island Forest Reserve.
His responsibilities include managing forestry planning, harvesting and silviculture activities.
David began his career in forestry in the silviculture industry 20 years ago and has been the primary silviculture contractor for Texada Island Forest Reserve for 15 years.
Thanks to his wide range of responsibilities on a relatively small land base David has had the opportunity to learn practical forestry by observing the development of plantations and managaged forests everyday.
Together with his wife Rondi, David also operates Honeysuckle Farm based on his own property and surrounding cultivated land and silvopastures leased from Texada Island Forest Reserve. The farm raises beef cattle and lamb and sells a significant amount of hay to local horse owners. The farm also grows forestry seedlings for Texada Island Forest Reserve. |
